What to Expect

If you’re coming from a liturgical tradition (e.g. Roman Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Lutheran), you’ll recognize much of the service!

For others, some elements will be familiar and other parts less so—we’ll be happy to point out the aides in worship (bulletin, hymn sheet, etc.) and help you follow along.

Our Sunday services follow the Book of Common Prayer (2019). You’ll notice the majority of the liturgy is Scripture, either direct quotation or close paraphrase.

Each service has four Scripture readings, thematically linked: Old Testament, New Testament, a Psalm (read responsively), and a Gospel. These are followed by a sermon reflecting on the readings.

Throughout the service are hymns and prayers that have stood the test of time, some stretching back to the earliest days of the Church.

The pinnacle of each service is coming to the Lord’s Table. All who have been baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are welcome to participate. (We’re not trying to exclude anyone else—who are free to join for a blessing—we simply take seriously St. Paul’s admonition in 1 Corinthians 11:27-32!)

What should I wear?
You’ll find a range of dress styles at our church. In Christian liberty, you are free to come as you are able and feel is appropriate and honoring.

Childcare
All children are encouraged to join the people in worship, but we know they sometimes need a break! We have a side room where children can be taken as needed and someone will happy to assist.
